The last few years is quite turbulent for the environment. Suddenly, it turns out that the majority of great companies have considerable fastnesses on their conscience — Activision Blizzard, Bungee, Ubisoft, or Riot Games. The latter started before the decade, as a small developer who provided the world of According League of Legends. They retreaded, let a few games, expanded the Runner's universe, released their own serial from Netflix, and were accused of discrimination and harassment of employees.
Accusations are going for Riot Games for several years (from 2018 exactly), and the first judgment fell in 2019 and then the company had to pay 10 million dollars. A few months ago, from the position of CEO, the company resigned Nicole Laurent, against which accusations of molestation and hugging workers were extended.
Recently, theoretically final agreement, solving the case. All thanks to California Department of Fair Employment Housing (DFE), California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (ELSE) and several other private legal companies. As a result of all this, the decision of the court is official, and it may not be changed — Riot Games must pay 100 million dollars of punishment.
80 million dollars will go to the victims of Riot Games, which are victims of harassment and / or discrimination. 20 million dollars will be intended to pay lawyers and court costs. Riot Games additionally agreed that the external company would monitor their actions for the next three years, especially the integrity of the wage system.
I wonder how it will end for such Activision Blizzard.
