Dungeons & Dragons is making a major change in Spelljammer

Calaboons and dragons is bringing back Spelljammer, but at least a part of the iconic configuration of the campaign will not be used in the restarted version. Earlier this week, Wizards of the Coast announced that it would launch Spelljammer: Adventures in Space , _ a new box that contains three 64-page books designed to help configure a Spelljammer campaign. Two of these three books refer to the Astral Sea, a plane of existence that acts as the "space" among other planes. Given that Spelljammer's original configuration did not really use the Astral Sea, Calaboons and dragons_ The fans wondered how it would influence the scene of the campaign.

It turns out that the Astral Sea will replace the phlogiston, the flammable gas substance by which the players traveled to reach different worlds. In the original campaign environment of Spelljammer, the planet systems were locked in glass spheres surrounded by flogiston, with ships that used flowing rivers similar to currents to help navigate between spheres of glass.

In the new configuration, the planets will exist in the "wild space" that will be faded gradually in the Astral Sea. In a press event performed after D & D Direct last week, D & D designer, Chris Perkins, said that wild space would gradually move to the Astral Sea. Perkins confirmed that the phlogiston would not appear in Spelljammer's version 5e, and his comments on how the wild space interacted and the Astral Sea suggested that the crystal spheres surrounding the planetary systems would not appear in the restarted version.

According to Perkins, the elimination of the phlogisto allows the SpellJammer campaign to "take advantage" better the current cosmology of D & D. While there were some creatures that can survive in the phlogiston, using the Astral Sea allows Wizards to bring more knowledge of D & D to the Spelljammer scenario. The astral battleship seems to have a prominent role in the new Spelljammer campaign environment (with Wizkids producing a figure of the astral battleship of more than $ 200) and brings other creatures and cultures, such as Githyanki and Githzerai. It should also be taken into account that the radiant citadel, the center-shaped citadel that is located in the next _viajes by the radiant citadel, is also found in the Astral Sea.

D&D Direct GAME CHANGING News | Spelljammer + Dragonlance We will discover more about the Astral Sea and how it is related to the scenario of the Spelljammer campaign when Spelljammer: adventures in space leaves in August.
